Professor Alan Weinstein is Professor Emeritus, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, Cleveland State University. Prior to his appointment at Cleveland State, he taught at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Architecture & Urban Planning, Touro College of Law, and Wayne State University Law School. Professor Weinstein’s education includes a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Professor Weinstein is a nationally recognized expert on planning law who lectures frequently at planning and law conferences and has published over eighty books, treatise revisions and law journal articles. Professor Weinstein has extensive practice and research experience with sign regulation in addition to his academic work. He served as Chair of the Sub-Committee on Land Use & the First Amendment in the American Bar Association's (ABA) Section of State & Local Government Law from 1982 through 2000, and has served as a consultant on sign regulations to the American Planning Association, industry groups, sign companies, and local governments.
